Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and ex-girlfriend Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola have returned for the “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” Season 7 premiere, but the former lovers did not appear together.
Their relationship was so turbulent during the original “Jersey Shore” series that Giancola refused to return for the spin-off ― until now.

“I don’t know, I’m so anti-coming back,” said Giancola, 36, in a confessional on Thursday. “I had that relationship drama back then. I had some fights with girls. Like, there’s a lot that comes with this but being older now, what do I have to lose?”
On Thursday’s episode, Angelina Pivarnick sent a text message to Giancola to encourage her to reunite with the Jersey Shore castmates during the show.
The two met at Pivarnick’s house in Freehold, where Pivarnick and her fiancee Vinny Tortorella live.
Meanwhile, most of the cast members are shunning Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, given his history of domestic abuse charges. He avoided jail time thanks to a stint in treatment.
“All of us had an issue with Ron coming back,” Deena Cortese told The New York Post. “He did a lot of things outside of the show that none of us really appreciate.”
However, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was the one cast member who reached out, inviting him to his Holmdel home.
“I feel at peace for the first time in a lot of years, but I know I have made my mistakes, and I want to ask the roommates for forgiveness,” Ortiz-Magro said in a confessional, breaking down into tears.
Sorrentino suggested to Ortiz-Magro to get back together with Giancola, causing them to laugh awkwardly.
The cast will meet in the Poconos in the coming episodes.
“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on MTV and streams on-demand on Philo and FuboTV.
