I'd imagine it means welded as in locked. Thats the terminology in the Jeep world at least

Welded so that it is like a locker. Not limited diff any more. It's posi now. It's what you use if you want the best chance of traction to go straight. Lol. Less chance of braking also

I don't understand. They come with electronic rears designed to downpowere the spinning tire till both tires grab. You can upgrade them to an LSD or position rear where after a few rotations both tires lock and spin together. The third option is welding the internals so they don't spin independently at all. This is for drag racing only. Rear tires would jump if this is done in corners. Our cars came with the casing either open or welded, meaning the gears were accessible or not. What you're saying doesn't make sense.

It's probably a normal electronic posi rear like comes standard on our cars. Manual Transmission cars after mid 2007 run cane with the gearbox welded shut. If you wanted to make it an LSD it requires an extra $1000 in machining vs the open or bolted gearbox. Gear ratio us right for a manual. So technically this is a manual transmission rear with electronic slip control and a welded gearbox. To make it a true LSD is about $1900.

Yes, this is basically a race only locked diff. It can be used on street but on sharp turns its going to feel jumpy. I had the same kind of setup in my RX7 and you can tame down the jump a bit by what fluid you use. I ran that car as a semi daily

I'm still confused lol. You sound like your not sure of what your saying. In one instant your agreeing that it's a stock diff yet try to explain it's welded completely like a Posi

I understand what he's saying but can also see how it comes across confusing. It's a stock diff concerning what gears are in it but the diff action within that internal stock gear set has been welded so its pure posi all the time. So its kinda stock from a gear ratio perspective but not from how it performs. We do this all the time on Jeeps for rock crawling but definitely not a lot of fun on the street. Cheaper to do it this way for a basically race only setup versus dealing with all the electronic nannies that BMW tosses at you. Hope that helps a bit.

Sorry for the lack of clarity here. The spider gears were welded by the welder at Spec Ops Motorsports. I'm trying to find pictures of the work that was done. It was not installed or used after mod was performed

Yup correct. I just haven't seen an e90x 335i 90xmadequate into a dedicated drag car.
