Where are we, and what's here?
Sanssouci Park is the best thing to see in Potsdam, bar none. Strolling through this fabulously landscaped 741-acre green space is like going back to the time of the royals. You'll see a number of 18th-century palaces along with magnificent fountains, well-manicured gardens, and more than 1,000 sculptures.

Fun! Any highlights we should know about?
You can’t miss Sanssouci Palace, Frederick the Great’s striking yellow summer palace, with its beautiful terraced gardens. The regal New Palace, used by the king to house and entertain guests, sits on the opposite end of the park. The baroque Charlottenhof Palace and the imposing Orangery Palace are also well worth a peek, if time allows, as is the adorable Chinese House, which features gilded music-playing figures.

Got it. Was it easy to get around?
Walking around the park takes efforts—there are lots of stairs and steep ramps leading to the gardens. Luckily, strategically placed benches allow you to take a rest and enjoy the view, and the park’s few cafés are great options to refresh for an hour or two. Wheelchairs are fine to navigate the park itself, but are only allowed inside Sanssouci Palace and Orangery Palace with assistance.

Noted. Any other tips for us?
To maximize your time, buy your Sanssouci ticket in advance online—especially if you come on a weekend. This not only includes admission to all the palaces in the park, but also a set time for seeing Sanssouci Palace from the inside; use the audio guide to learn more about its fascinating history.
