PO welded diff...welds broke...now what? (opinions please)
PO said this XJ had lockright lockers front and rear...yeah well he said a lot of things.
Front diff with no locker or evidence of welds
Rear with now broken welds on the spider gears...
So now the question is...do I just weld the rear again but do a better job? Do I grind away the extra material with a Dremel/stone and leave it open? Do I leave it alone and hope for the best changing the fluid more often? I'll be leaving the front alone.
I need to drive this rig to and from the trail, it however isn't my daily. At my immediate disposal I have a 110V 90amp flux core mig welder, I'm sure I can find someone with a bigger badder welder if that's the route we decide to take.

I'd put an auto locker in. They can be had cheap, better on road handling and in my opinion better than welded spider gears and less likely to break.

But that also costs money I don't have at the moment. So in esscense the rig will be down until I can afford one (couple months )

An auto locker is a completely acceptable option (being that's what drew me to this rig when I bought it advertised with lockrights f/r ) But that also costs money I don't have at the moment. So in esscense the rig will be down until I can afford one (couple months )

I've had it on the road for maybe a month, PO didn't drive it for like 2 years (but like I said...he said a lot of things that have turned out to be BS). Other than the spider gears things look good honestly.

1) Weld it back up - but with a better welder than a 110v in my opinion
2) Throw some used "Spider Gears" in until you can afford a lunchbox locker of some sort.
3) Scrape up money for locker somewhere.
Not sure I would try to spin those spiders after they been welded on.
