Product Description

White Horehound (Marrubium vulgare) has been grown as a medicinal plant for over 2,000 years. It is reputed the plant aids with; Diabetes, Respiratory Ailments, Digestive Ailments, Cancer, Equine Worms, and more. It is grown extensively in Europe for coughs and colds, and the German Commission E Monographs, approve Marrubium vulgare for dyspepsia, and loss of appetite. Horehound called Marrob is served as a sacred herb on the Jewish Passover.

Horehound grows up to 2 feet high in a round bushy form with woody branches. The leaves are hairy and greyish-green, and the flowers which are produced in June are white. It is the leaves (dried) and flowers that are used medicinally. The plant is not fussy about soil and will grow in poor soils. Horehound can be invasive but not extensively so.

  • Suitable for USDA Zones 4-8.
  • Prefers Full Sun/Partial Shade.
  • Moderate Water Required.

Sow 2-3 seeds in spring 1/4" deep, and 18" apart into finely raked and weeded soil. Germination 4 - 14 days at 60-70F. Keep moist until established. Once established allow to dry out between waterings.
