Marrubium vulgare 

Use of horehound was first recorded by the ancient Roman physician Galen, who recommended it for coughs and respiratory ailments. Indeed, it is a great expectorant, and is useful for soothing dry coughs, especially those brought on by a constant tickle in the throat. The volatile oils responsible for its impressive cough and expectorant effects are also quite bitter, making it stimulating to gastric juices and thus beneficial as a digestive aid and appetite stimulant.
