Man, I love this one so much! It's unbelievably sleazy (it's got hardcore inserts) and also super silly (the weird characters and the interactions they have with each other). It's impossible not to have a good time with it.

Malabimba might be the most infamous movie that was shot in the Castello di Balsorano. The location is utilized to great effect. It's moody and has a unique gothic vibe. Bianchi was aiming for controversy again, also. Or was he? God kinda wins in the end. Before that, we get buckets of sleaze, though. Some tasteless hardcore inserts round everything up. The score is incredibly beautiful and surreal. I wonder where it originates from. I could swear I heard at least one of the pieces before.
Katell Laennec gives a dedicated and hammed-up performance as the possessed horny daughter. Props go out to the rest of the cast as well. Basically, every character is memorable in one way or another. I had a blast revisiting this scummy Italian classic with Lou 🐻👻

You’d cry too if it happened to you. “It” being, eaten out by the demonic spirit of Lucrezia, a vengeful family spirit summoned out of hell to expose the hypocrisy and sin of the wealthy and morally corrupt.
Malabimba capitalizes not only on The Exorcist but the success of the Italian import Beyond the Door, plus adds a heavy helping of The Devils-inspired nunsploitation. Not to mention the sheltered castle setting is straight out of a 60s Italian gothic, so this really has it all. Throw it in a blender and give it to ultra sleaze director Andrea Bianchi (working in the desperate-for-attention Italy of the late 70s) and you get The Malicious Whore.

A possessed teen roams around a mansion seducing her already horny family members. She goes after her dad, resident nun, stuffed animals, a mirror, and even her invalid uncle! She also has a super horny Auntie on the loose(shes not possessed but wants to bang everything nonetheless).
It's so stupid that it's unintentionally funny at times. The dialogue is all over the place. Its also super sleazy 70s exploitation complete with tacky hardcore inserts that don't fit in at all with the softcore scenes they're spliced in with. It's not a terrible film but it's pretty lame by possession standards. I won't watch this again. One of the weaker Vinegar Syndrome films I've seen.
More notorious than actually even slightly interesting, this is a typically contradictory Italian Eurocore porn, very gauche and heavy on gothic atmosphere, simultaneously prurient and puritanical, with female sexuality literally depicted as evil and dangerous.

A modern gothic possession story with zero blood and lots and lots of sex. I kept waiting for the thing to go off the rails with some brutal Patrick Still Lives style violence, but it never happened. As is this was pretty boring and ultimately just a curio.

In many ways, it's an Exorcist rip where horror and tension are traded for sex and eroticism. Does the spirit possessing Bimba represent a demon of sin or her blooming sexuality? Bianchi is never too concerned, but as the entire family confronts their repressed desires, they're finally relieved of the horror.
Unfortunately, those moments are few and far between. However, there's a good atmosphere and some beautiful views in the meantime. It's mainly a bunch of soapy melodrama and a whole lotta muff, but Malabimba has enough taboo moments to slide by.

Thanks to my non-existent knowledge of Italian, I'd confused "bimba" with "bambina" and assumed that the title of this movie translated to "Bad Baby". Of course I read this in a Marge Simpson voice and offered myself a Hibbert-esque chuckle right after. What this has to do with the actual movie is anybody's guess, so I suppose I should get on with an actual review. Well, it turns out this isn't "Satan/Devil" themed after all. The evil entity that possesses poor young Bimba, and turns her into a Malabimba, is just the ghost of her ancestor Lucrezia who wants to have hostile (malicious even) sexual encounters with all of her relatives, then slap them around and call them whores. That's basically the entire plot, but the little details make it really entertaining - the shitty rich family all holed up together in this gothic slutty sex mansion, the medium who accidentally summoned Lucrezia and then is just stuck there for a while; and the novitiate nun who lives with them for some reason (the reason is to get some sexy nunsploitation scenes in).

you could definitely read this as a (highly religious) teenager coming into her own sexuality and the things done by the church to stop it. to me, however, it's just so sleazy that anything serious you can say falls by the wayside. i genuinely did not expect any of the hardcore inserts in this-- but as a freak, surprise porn is always fun. in any case, it's a freaky exorcist-type x-rated film that deserves more love.
